We’ve inherited a world that in many ways has already been built, and the job of current generations is to keep it from falling apart. Our government seems to be pretty ineffective, financial institutions are faltering, infrastructure is aging, and the environment is deteriorating. It’s a bit depressing, which may be why we’ve been so obsessed with building a mostly frivolous digital world of our own. Do we care if the road to our parents’ house is covered with potholes as long as there is fiber running underneath it?
